when you manifest
a fictional world from nothing,
you’re in your element
When you develop
a story that’s intriguing and entertaining,
you’re in your element
When you select words
that evoke emotions from your readers,
you’re in your element
When you listen to your inner voice
and let your imagination run free,
you’re in your element
So let the artist inside you loose
and relish in your creative resourcefulness
If you can do that without fear,
you’re in your element

there are no shortcuts
It takes years and years
of endless writing
and countless trials and tribulations
If you start to feel disheartened
and think you are
not up to your standards,
set your heart ablaze
Dig down deep and plow forward
because the flow of time
waits for no one
So catch up to it
and continue to create
and build your distinct voice
for all to see
