My Father

As a child growing up, I saw my father as a strong, strict, disciplinarian that was in charge of raising four children. But as the years passed, he was much more than that. My dad was a teacher, a sage that taught me useful skills and unknown life hacks that I still use to this day.
As a teenager moving at 90 mph into adulthood, my dad became a therapist that imparted wise advice and guidance that helped me make major decisions in shaping my outlook on life. In addition, he was also a positive cheerleader that gave unyielding support in all my endeavors.
As we both grew older, my father’s stern exterior was soon softened and a nurturing side developed when he spent time with his grandchildren. Through my children’s eyes, I saw a man that would do goofy things for a laugh and a smile, give comforting hugs in times of sadness and instill a sense of goodness whenever possible.
My dad may not be as strong as before and he may not have new knowledge to impart on me, but he continues to be supportive and extremely generous in his own unique way.
Growing up having him as a father, is truly a gift. I could not be more proud and honored to be called his son. And I am carrying on the tradition of imparting his traits onto my children and hopefully become like my father…the man that I now idolize and adore.

What I’m Thankful For

Despite what a terrible year 2020 has been, I’m thankful that I got a chance to strengthen my relationships with my family and friends…even connect with long lost ones. It helped me to lean on them for support and I learned that regardless of what life throws at you or what obstacles arise, if we face it together…together we will persevere.

Be The Multiplier

Helping is a multiplying force.  It’s a contagious virus that will compel one to infect others with it.  There are no words to describe that sense of self satisfaction from aiding someone whether it’s asked for or unsolicited.   It could be a grandiose gesture or a small deed, but the feeling you get from assisting someone is very rewarding.  And the recipient has an air of deep gratitude; their appreciation is truly genuine because it comes from within. Some may even be inspired to do the same for a family member, a friend, an acquaintance or a stranger.  They in turn may render assistance for others as well.  That’s the multiplying effect.  It doesn’t take much to help someone, you just need to be willing to take the first step and spread some positivity.  So what are you waiting for, do some good because helping is truly a multiplying force.

What I’ve Learned

what-I-have-learned

There were many things that I’ve seen
but none could be more important than
what was in front of me
My DAD worked hard
to provide us with everything,
so I’ve learned to be…
RESPONSIBLE
My MOM tended to
my illnesses and injuries,
so I’ve learned to be…
CARING
My SISTER had a severe handicap
and dealt with ridicule
so I’ve learned to be…
TOLERANT
My WIFE gave hugs with a smile
through all the good and the bad,
so I’ve learned to be…
LOVING
My DAUGHTER was friendly
to everyone she met
so I’ve learned to be…
KIND
My SON sought out things
that were unfamiliar and unknown
so I’ve learned to be…
FEARLESS
My DOGS kept me company
when family was not around
so I’ve learned to be…
LOYAL
My FRIENDS were there
to hear every problem and gripe
so I’ve learned to be…
a good LISTENER
My FAMILY and FRIENDS
have been with me
through every step of my life
so I’ve learned to be…
SUPPORTIVE
These people that I’ve encountered,
made me who I am today
and I’m grateful
for the lessons I’ve learned
through their
unselfish actions.

The Love From A Pet

Having a family pet

is truly a blessing from the start,

they give their all, and more, to you

warms the bottom of your heart

Their warm and gentle eyes,

soft fur and cheerful grin,

their playfulness and compassion unbound

stirs feelings from within

They’re comforting to the soul

keeping you from a tailspin,

they’re there with you throughout it all

in it through thick and thin

To have a family pet, you see,

is to have a friend for life,

they’re there to provide strong stability

through all the stress and strife

The love a pet shares

is unconditionally all to you,

it becomes the greatest gift of all

to the end their hearts be true

So if you’re given the chance

get a loving pet by your side,

experience all their wondrous joy

and hang on for an awesome thrill ride
